My Unforgettable Study Tour to Yogyakarta
by: Marine Brigitta
The story started about three months ago, in
February 2025. At that time, I was still in the 8th grade of junior high
school. My school held a study tour to Yogyakarta for four days and three
nights.
On the first day, I went to a place called Kodim
Mampang at 3 a.m. because all the buses were parked there. I felt so sleepy yet
very excited for the trip. During the bus ride, I spent most of the time
chatting with my friends about how excited we were.
Our first destination was Candi Prambanan.
There, I explored the temple area and took many photos with my friends. It was
such a wonderful place! I was amazed by how people in the past could build
something so big and beautiful. At night, we arrived at a homestay called Desa
Pentingsari. The owner of the house was very kind and welcoming.
On the second day, we were still in Desa
Pentingsari. My roommates and I walked to the village hall after breakfast.
Since our homestay was quite far, we needed extra energy to get there. That
day, we learned how to make wayang, jamu (a traditional Javanese
herbal drink), coffee, traditional dances, and traditional music. We
even played at a beautiful waterfall! It was so much fun, even though I was
tired. It was really worth it.
Later that day, we went to a museum by Jeep.
Suddenly, it started raining. It was a bit annoying at first, but it turned out
to be fun because we laughed together while getting wet.
In the evening, we moved to a hotel that our school
had booked. As soon as I entered my room, I could barely feel my body because
of how tired I was. Still, I managed to take a shower, clean up, and even go to
a minimarket nearby.
On the third day, we prepared to leave Yogyakarta
and return home. Before heading back, we stopped at several places to buy
souvenirs. I also got the chance to visit Jl. Malioboro again. It had
been a long time since my last visit when I was little. The place looked just
the same as I remembered beautiful, clean, and full of nostalgia.
The best part of this trip was that I learned more
about Yogyakarta’s culture and spent unforgettable moments with all my friends.
I really hope I can visit Yogyakarta again with them someday.
